The children are engaged from the beginning of the show to the end!
be constantly engaged and they want to be part of the show. Below are just a few of the techniques I use to keep all the children engaged and participating throughout the show:
What’s your favorite food?
One technique is to ask children questions throughout the magic show: What is your favorite color? favorite game? favorite food? As soon as I ask a question, the children immediately raise their hands. The children can’t wait to tell me what their favorite game, color, food, princess, superhero, etc. By asking questions, the children are no longer observers of the show –- they are participants in the show! And, even better, all the children can participate, not just the children chosen to assist me during the show. Once the children answer a question, I perform a magic trick related to the question.
“Hi Steven, Just wanted to thank you so much for a great show yesterday! Jack really got into it, and I wasn't sure if he would or not!! All the kids loved it, and the older ones will be showing me that card trick for weeks I'm sure!! Thanks again for going above and beyond!!!”

What’s happening? (The children see the magic, but I don’t.)
Another very powerful technique for engaging the children is letting them see the magic when I do not. For example, flowers disappear and reappear without my knowledge. My magic wand changes color and I don’t see the color changing. Or a picture magically comes to life. When I don’t see the flowers disappearing or the wand changing color, the children just cannot contain their excitement until I finally discover what’s going on.
"Hi Steven, It’s Melissa. I just wanted to call you again and thank you so very much for yesterday. My son had so much fun participating in the show. I got like three phone calls last night from various parents telling me what a wonderful time their children had at the birthday party yesterday. So I just I had to call you and let you know that the kids had an awesome time.
Take care. Thanks very much. Bye Bye.”

Repetition…repetition…repetition = Laughter…laughter…and even more laughter.
Another powerful technique is the use of repetition, which creates fun and excitement. For example, I hand a child a very long balloon (the type used for balloon animals) but don’t tie the end. When the child reaches for the balloon, I release it and the balloon flies away, this is hilarious to the children (and the adults laugh at the comedic situation). With each repetition, the childrens' belly laughs become louder and louder.
“Hi Steven, Thank you for making Victoria's party an extra special event. All of the children enjoyed the show immensely and the adults had a great time. As a matter of fact I had a few adults without children at the party and they were having as good of a time (if not better) as the kids! There were some really loud big belly laughs coming out of children and adults!
I have to thank you for making Rebecca feel as important as Victoria, and including her in your act. It is hard for a six year old to have all the attention placed in her sister, so thank you for that.
All of the parents commented in how wonderful it was that you taught the kids some tricks, and that they all come out with something to bring home with them.
Once again thank you and I am sorry that you did not get to eat anything.”

The children know i’m there to have fun with them!
I introduce myself to the children before I start the show in a very fun way. I blow up long balloons (the kind used for balloon animals) using a balloon pump about three-feet tall. Children (and adults!) are amazed by how the pump blows up the balloons. The children yell out the colors of the balloons as I inflate them. I ask them their names and ages. By the time I’ve finished blowing up the balloons, I’ve established a solid rapport with the children.
You can count on me… responsive and responsible
Like you, I want to work with someone who is responsive and responsible. In short, you want someone you can count
-- someone who’ll arrive on time and provide the unique entertainment you’re looking for. Just like the person who wrote me the note below.
“We had a Fun, Entertaining and Magical Evening with Steven Craig -
Steven Craig's Magic Show was a great addition to our Backyard Family Movie Night and Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society -- Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Steven was professional, responsive and just plain easy to work (& communicate) with during the planning phase for our big night. Even with bad weather and a need to postpone the event for a week - Steven was supportive and helpful.
With a crowd of 50+ parents and kids - and despite distractions of food, playground and a bouncy house - Steven captured the crowd’s attention. His entertaining magic and witty rapport with the kids engaged everyone from the very youngest up to the oldest. He kept the kids laughing, involved and guessing through out the show. It was a great night of fun.
Thank you, Steven. We'll be calling you again. And we're happy to pass your name on to other family and friends - looking for a FUN FAMILY FRIENDLY ENTERTAINER for their next event. Thank you.”
